Crysis 3 Will Push PS3, 360 Limits – PC Version To Be Ahead

Crysis 3 Will Push PS3, 360 Limits – PC Version To Be Ahead

Admit it, doesn’t a part of you die inside every time you hear this statement from developers nowadays?

Not to mention that I recall this very thing being said about Crysis 2 during its development, but such is life.

Anyway, Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli has revealed through Twitter that Crysis 3 “will push the 360, PS3 to its limits, ahead of Crysis 2, but Crysis 3 PC will be clearly ahead!”

I hope so, because that didn’t seem to be the case with Crysis 2. Either way, let’s wait to see the first game footage due out today. It’s probably a cinematic trailer.

Maybe I’ll buy a new PC next year. It’s way overdue. My current gaming PC’s (I’m going to exclude my 90′s era rigs) are collections of new and old parts that I’ve assembled since 2005.

My primary laptop  (aka portable desktop ;-)  – yes I have more than 1) is another story.

Hey now – Crysis 2 did push the PC’s limits. Even the GTX680 is unlikely to be able to handle the game at 2560×1440 if you enable the *completely retarded* tessellation!

It certainly didn’t do anything spectacular when it launched :P And I dunno Theo, even on max settings I just don’t think Crysis 2 has an attractive visual style. It’s pretty boring, so I couldn’t be as amazed by the visuals as I was with Crysis 1, because there was so much to admire in the original, from the water to the shadows to the lighting to the physics engine at work.

Oh no, I wasn’t saying Crysis2 was a pretty game – I actually found it to be somewhat of an insult to the first game, especially since it wasn’t an open-world deal in any way anymore.

I was being sarcastic, since the tessellation system in Crysis2 was not only poorly done, but buggy as shit. It’d tessellate the utter crap out of water present underneath practically every single level to the point of crippling your system, all while largely ignoring most other objects that are actually in view.
