DmC’s Dante Gets Branded As A Sexual Deviant & Terrorist In This Trailer

Ninja Theory’s DmC reboot of Devil May Cry just keeps looking better and better and honestly it looks like a pretty darn good game at present. Capcom has released a new trailer for the game that at first gives us an indication of how the world perceives Dante before quickly realising that this is a hack ‘n slash title and consequently slipping back into that over the top action we’ve come to expect from DmC.

Dante literally faces his demons in this trailer while also trying to get his pants on since he starts the trailer off lying naked in a trailer. Enjoy. Also, this is a game that is currently still in development in case the trailer doesn’t make that clear enough.

I wonder how many people now thinks “you know, maybe we shouldn’t have bitched so much, this might have been kinda nice if it was canon to the original story”.

Fanboys are always gonna find something to bitch about. Agreed though, this game might’ve looked dodgy at first but it’s actually starting to seem pretty good.

I’m worried about this game, since it’s being developed by the guys who made Heavenly Sword and Enslaved, both of which do not have deep or challenging combat, and that’s supposed to be what DMC is about.

Every gameplay trailer I watch of this shows Dante doing the same aerial combo at least ten times, combat often looked fixated around that long range grab and I don’t know if it’s just the trailers, but the game doesn’t seem to look that challenging at all. Hopefully the final product proves me wrong on this.

Any amount of difficulty definitely doesn’t come across in the trailers but what you can see is that it looks fun. Hopefully, Ninja Theory have at least honoured the core of Devil May Cry by making the combat a bit deeper than they usually would. Enslaved got a bit mundane, gameplay wise when you have to use the same few moves over and over.

But that’s the thing. It doesn’t look fun to me. The fun in Devil May Cry is pulling off insane, over the top combos and fighting with style, variety and fluidity. This just looks like a typical action game, repeating the same combos over and over. I haven’t seen anything to convince me of its depth or of it living up to DMC4. And I’m not even a fan of the series, I just love its combat system.

I don’t think I explained myself properly, Devil May Cry as a series is somewhere near the top of the hack ‘n slash genre and this doesn’t seem to come close. As an independant game, it looks, as I’ve been saying, pretty good and nothing more. It looks like a game worth playing because it looks like it offers a bit of fun but it’s doubtful it will be anywhere near the experience you might have gotten from previous titles.

Like I said, Ninja Theory has a reputation for repetitive combat but then maybe this is just bad marketing. I certainly don’t think series fans will find what they’re looking for but this probably won’t be the pile of shit that people thought it was going to be either.

You explained what you meant a lot better now :P I can agree with that.

What happened to the White(or silver) haired Dante? I like the trailer though but it seems too bland to put it easily, where’s the massive amounts of blood? the insane combo’s? and the fully continued motion ?

Will take a look but not sure if it will be as great as the predecessors.

I for one seem to think that this is looking awesome. Gameplay looks true to the series, and while there may not be huge combos on show, I distinctly remember DMC 4 trailers being the same thing. I also remember how people bitched endlessly about the fact that DMC 4 had you in control of a different protagonist, much in the same way they’re bitching about everything here.

The way Ninja Theory are intergrating Dante’s demon slaying world with reality around him is such an interesting concept as well. It fits with the whole “Dante is a terrorist” theme, which is an interesting take on a series that has usually only concerned itself with over the top demon antics.

In a nutshelI, absolutely cannot wait for this reboot :P

What you mentioned in the second paragraph is what’s got me interested but the gameplay looks decent at present. Nothing special is the term I’m looking for. Again, fanboys exist to bitch and moan and rage and then love the game anyway or vomit on it. I believe they can best be compared to crack-whores who will do unspeakable things to feed their addiction but often say they’re gonna get out of it or hate themselves or hate the product itself because they’re helpless to break the cycle.
