Don’t Know Uncharted’s Story? Watch The Movies

I have a friend, named Megan, who loves a good story. She’s not a particular fan of actually playing games, but she loves listening to the stories they tell. I remember one day in particular where we sat and watched all the cutscenes in Rachet and Clank: A Crack in Time, all because she wanted to know of Clank’s story without all of the gameplay. Now, she can do the same with the entire Uncharted franchise, thanks to one dedicated Reddit user.

User morphinapg has basically made three feature long film using cutscenes from all three games, using “the minimum gameplay needed to connect the cinematics without creating any plot holes.” What we have then is three really long YouTube videos that could act as Uncharted films. Altogether, it’s over eight hours of footage, a real trilogy if you ever saw one. Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune clocks in at 113 minutes, Among Thieves 177 minutes and Drake’s Deception a whopping 3 hours and 16 minutes.

Something like this is fantastic for people like Megan. People who love how games are a form of storytelling, but have no desire other than to hear the story told. Granted you have 8 hours of your life to give away, this is certainly a story that everyone should listen to.

Even if you have played all three titles, the movies are still incredibly well done and will leave you feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. Check it out.

That is actually really awesome. Some of my friends also wanted to watch me play Uncharted just for the story. Before UC3, I watched through all the UC2 cut scenes and thought it would be nice if someone could put it all together for others to watch. If ever I have some spare data I’ll download it so I can share it with friends, because these are fantastic stories that provide more entertainment than the majority of movies.

Uncharted and Heavy Rain are genuinely watchable games and this is simply testament to that narrative quality. It’s also proof that while it might be cool, Uncharted has no need for a movie.
