Prey 2 Hasn’t Been Worked On Since November
Yesterday saw the news that Prey 2 wasn’t actually cancelled, much to the delight of fans across the world, including myself. However, why was the game delayed until 2013? Quality issues? More content? If an anonymous source from the developing studio is to be believed, the game has been delayed because it hasn’t seen any work done on it for nearly six months.
An anonymous source spoke to Shacknews yesterday, enlightening gamers as to why Prey 2 had been delayed, and was thought cancelled at a time. Apparently, Human Head, the developer “was not happy with the terms its contract with [publisher] ZeniMax and deliberately stopped work on the game in November so it could try to negotiate a more favorable deal.”
Some of the development team was laid off during the process, and many hoped that the project would continue as normal when the dust had settled. However, the dust doesn’t look like it’s settling soon, with ZeniMax having cut communication with Human Head, which prompted many to believe that the title was canned.
At this time, ZeniMax has yet to respond to these claims, but this wouldn’t be the first time we’ve heard of publishers enforcing harsh working conditions on employees. So Prey 2 may be delayed, but it seems that there is a lot more to be solved before this title ever sees the light of day.
