Oh It’s The Elder Scrolls Online, Not World Of Warcraft
Following the announcement of The Elder Scrolls Online last week Friday, we now have our first screenshot of the game courtesy of Game Informer, the publication that confirmed the existence of the MMO. If you just glance at the image quickly, you wouldn’t be blamed for thinking it was World of Warcraft, because it seriously does look like a screen grab from Blizzard’s MMO.
Sure it’s more detailed, but the point I’m trying to make is that it looks nothing like the Tamriel that we’ve come to know and (possibly) love. Couple that with news that combat will be turn-based ( a given), hotbars will be focused and gameplay being described as using “World of Warcraft mechanics” and you’ve got a bit of a dilemma. Just a few days after announcement and The Elder Scrolls Online is already looking like another MMO that is not innovation that much and using its name to carry itself (Yes Old Republic, I’m looking at you).
Even diehard Elder Scrolls fans might find this new direction a bitter pill to swallow. Or maybe you’re excited? Let us know in the comments below.
