Dishonored Shows Its Schizophrenia In This Gameplay Demo

I’ve really liked what I’ve seen of Dishonored thus far and think it might be one of the best games we’ll get this year. You’d know this if you read my piece yesterday on why the game looks to be on track to be a great stealth title but I won’t hold a grudge if you didn’t, I’ll just sob quietly in a corner. Anyway, enough of my sad story, Bethesda has released a two-part gameplay demo of Dishonored.

In the videos, co-creative directors Raphael Colantonio and Harvey Smith walk us through two very different playthroughs of a mission called “The Godlen Cat.” Heads up – it takes place in a brothel. In this mission you are tasked with getting rid of the Pendleton brothers, a pair of corrupt aristocrats.

The first playthrough shows off what has me excited for this game – the silent and sneaky stealth that’s on offer while the second is tailored more to suit those who will enjoy The Expendables 2 i.e. guns-blazing, blades-flying action.

It looks, well… awesome and even the action way of doing things looks good but of course the stealth is where it’s at. It’s the same thing that Hitman: Absolution is doing in catering for both stealth nuts and the Rambo wannabes. You’ll notice a lot of the first half of the playthrough from the E3 demo we’ve already seen but d you honestly mind? You do? Well then just check out the action-oriented playthrough below.
