E3 2012: God Of War: Ascension Single Player Gameplay Footage Revealed

We’ve already seen a multiplayer trailer for the new God of War: Ascension, and at Sony’s press conference we finally got a look at the single-player component.

It looks pretty damn cool I won’t lie, and those graphics are just too gorgeous for words, but I’m puzzled as to how exactly this story is fitting in as a prequel since Kratos already looks like the Ghost of Sparta and wields his classic chain blades. Maybe I’m just really tired and can’t think.

The game will be released exclusively on PS3 on March 12, 2013.

Check out the gameplay demo up above.

I’m liking the gameplay but what in Zeus’ name is Kratos doing already being the Ghost of Sparta? What else does he have to ascend to besides becoming the God of War which we already kinda went rhough in the first game

That was way more than I expected, Studio Santa Monica has yet to dissapoint me.
This level was very reminiscent of the first levels after the initial boss fights in GoW1 & 2, to me, more 1 than 2 though. The gameplay seems a lot more visceral and frantic, it’s so fast paced and he was just using random weapons which is awesome. I like the moves and powers showcased.
How boss is Kratos? Screw dodging the tentacle trying to rape… I mean crush you, he fucking catches it like a boss and then proceeds to show it what’s what. And that ending? When he just dives straight into the belly of the beast so to speak.

PS3 has a freakin’ beast line up of exclusive next year, all/most of which have ended up as my most anticipated titles for the year. Honestly the title “Most Anticipated” doesn’t seem like such a big thing when I got so many on my list but it just goes to show the quality title released each year and they keep getting progressively better, it’s astounding.

Looks great though the final game will be a different experience to that, that was a little more scripted.
