Say Hello To Google’s Nexus 7

Google has lifted the curtain on its tablet, called the Nexus 7. It will run on Android OS 4.1 which is awesome not only because it is the latest Android software but mostly because it means that you can say your tablet runs on Jellybeans. The Nexus 7 ships in about 3 weeks time in the US so it shouldn’t be too long before we get it down here in SA. Pricing is currently $199 (R) for the 8GB version and $249.99 (R) for the 16GB variant. It’s also a 7″ tab packing a quad-core processor which pretty much amounts to dynamite in a small package.

Only 7″ screen… Lame. I’d have liked a 10″ on the tablet. Makes a big difference. Sticking with my iPad 2 thanks.

I know what you mean about the difference but I like the idea that it’s small and fast and the thinking behind making it 7” is that it’s lighter and more portable and lietrally handheld.
While they won’t say it, the raeson for going 7” as well is probably because Apple doesn’t have any share in market for 7” tabs. If Google had to make it 10” then they’d be competing with Apple and Samsung so less competition is part of the erason I guess. Maybe they’ll expand onto a 10” tab eventually.

That’s pretty awesome. Like the idea more than M$’s Surface to be honest.
