Minecraft Devs Initially Had Plans For FPS
The independent development studio known as Mojang is famed for their worldwide success story Minecraft, a game that has elevated lead man Markus “Notch” Persson to abhorrently godlike heights amongst fans of indie games, however believe it or not this wasn’t their original plan.
It’s just been revealed that the developer was originally planning a first person shooter but ditched it in its prototype stage because Mojang didn’t want “external dependencies,” according to Notch.
He went on to say that collaborations with other companies may happen in the future, so long as they’re not driven by profit.
Given the internet-wide opinion of him, if I were an employee for say Infinity Ward or DICE, I’d look into hiring the guy. Regardless of his comments on either company in the past. Like him or not (I don’t), he’s got huge sway and regardless of what game he puts out, it almost seems as if he’s guaranteed success.
