Arkham Asylum and City Writer Left Out Of Next Batman Game
Paul Dini is somewhat of a legend in terms of Batman story telling. Not only did he write the script for the beloved Batman: The Animated Series cartoon, he also wrote both stories for the best comic-to-game adaptations in recent memory. Despite writing fantastic stories for both Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, Paul Dini has come out saying that he will not be returning for the rumoured prequel.
Surprisingly though, this doesn’t seem to be out of choice. Dini took to Twitter to express his sadness at not being called to write the story for the third Batman game being developed by Rocksteady. In fact, Dini did not even know of a third title being developed until recently.
Kinda hoped I’d be doing another Arkham game in London during the Olympics. Esp, as I had a good source for tx. Ah, well.
I wish I could, but it’s not my call.
The rumoured silver-age prequel is set for a 2014 release, so there is still a lot of time for Rocksteady to make some changes and possibly bring Dini back for the third time. Considering both Arkham Asylum and Arkham City had some really fantastic stories and captivated players from beginning to end means that Dini is good at what he does, so why would he be cut from the third title?
