Ouya Will Have Final Fantasy III As A Launch Title
It’s been a rather strong day for the Ouya. Not only has the tiny console confirmed one of its launch titles, but it’s now officially its first third-party publisher. Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy III will be launching with the Ouya, and that they will be releasing more titles and content on the Ouya in the future.
The Ouya is supposedly being released in March next year, but Square Enix have already pledged their support to the Kickstarter console. Final Fantasy III was ported to Android devices last month so expect the same version to hit the Android-based Ouya when it launches.
Ouya has already managed to strike a deal with OnLive, making hundreds of games available for the new console when it launches. Square Enix are the first third-party publisher to pledge their support to Ouya, so it will be interesting to see if any other publishers choose to do the same soon.
The Ouya has far surpassed its required $950,000 target, sitting on $5.8 million with 8 days still on the clock. News like this is sure to bring more confidence to once skeptical donors.
