Abundantly Awesome Game Trailers

Abundantly Awesome Game Trailers

Any form of hype can be dangerous. No matter the quantity. Be it little or mountainous; it’s deadly. One of the major tools the gaming industry uses to increase hype is without a doubt; trailers. Reading about a game may be intriguing while looking at pictures will surely give us an idea of the look the developers are going for, but trailers and gameplay videos are the ones to really lure us into the all powerful gaming net. In most cases trailers will have the audience all giddy and ready to give away their money.

Fully CGI-rendered trailers exist to debut a game, tell a story and get the audience to pay attention. Gameplay trailers on the other hand will give us a more clear view of how it will be to actually play the game. These can be dangerous as well. It’s edited in such a way and will sometimes make happenings look way cooler than it will actually be. Don’t get me wrong here; I’m a sucker for trailers. Trailers have the capability to make me feel all kinds of emotions. Obviously; feeling really anxious to get my hands on the game. Anxious in a good way, but probably not a very healthy way.

The following candidates consist of both CGI and in-game footage. Some may not be the obvious choices, but it’s chosen like this to show you the ones that got my attention. I love so many trailers, but these will have to do for now.

(Grab some popcorn, perhaps a soda, put your feet up and enjoy:

Assassin’s Creed II’s Visions of Venice Trailer

Showing off a new city, a heavily improved combat system and all sorts of awesome; I remember watching this trailer for the first time. I was sold on this game. And it wasn’t a disappointment after getting excited either. Assassin’s Creed have always had some really kick-ass trailers, coupled with the right type of music, even if it’s not nearly suitable for the era. It just works. This is my favourite gameplay-oriented trailer for Assassin’s Creed.

Assassin’s Creed Revelations’ E3 Trailer

Like I mentioned above; Ubisoft have always given their best to show off the Assassin’s Creed games, and from all the fully-rendered CGI trailers; this one takes the crown… So far.

God of War III’s Epic Scale Trailer

What’s better than a trailer of God of War? What’s better than a God of War gameplay trailer? I know! I know! God of War III’s Epic Scale trailer. It’s a trailer made from in-game footage, but shot like a traditional trailer. All the moves and visuals are the real deal. Kick some ass, Kratos.

Borderlands 2′s Launch Date Trailer

Showcasing the four new Vault Hunters, the sights and sounds of Pandora, as well as the new fauna and flora. The Launch Date trailer shows us all we need to get intrigued, if not already. Claptrap also demonstrates the ideal way to go about while listening to the WUB WUB goodness.

Splinter Cell Conviction’s Violent Justice Trailer

Splinter Cell have changed. For some people that might be a deal breaker. Sure, I was skeptic at first, but this trailer made me enthusiastic to give this game chance. It may not be the the Splinter Cell we’ve come to love, but it’s still a good deal of fun. While there might not be as much shadows as there were in the past, you’ll sill feel like a bad-ass. Also, showing off the brutal; yet surprisingly satisfying interrogation moves doesn’t hurt.

Darksiders II’s Guardian Trailers

Part I:

Part II:

Entirely CGI; these trailers shows us what Death is capable of. Facing the Guardian, showing us some fine agile and combat moves, his horse: Despair and his Reaper Form. All this while looking totally bad-ass and not even breaking a sweat.

Dishonored’s Gameplay Trailer

Probably one of this year’s most anticipated games. While I was skeptic at first, excitement began forming and the curiosity couldn’t be held back after a while. The orginal CGI trailer for Dishonored is great, but strangely enough; this trailer had the most effect for me. The kill-moves, dark setting and music have tremendous effect.

The Witcher 2′s Enhanced Edition Trailer

Also fully CGI, this trailer was used to announce the Enhanced Edition for the game’s release on Xbox 360. It shows the Kingslayer; Letheo, peacefully going about his everyday business and makes it all look effortless. As with most of these CGI trailers, you can see the amount of effort that went into it.

ALL the BioShock Trailers

Yes. Fanboy. Done. Out of the way. Great.

BioShock’s Trailers have always made a tremendous amount of impact on me. Abnormally so.

BioShock Trailer

BioShock’s trailer had some shock to it while showing off the underwater city of Rapture. Jack stirs some havoc with his wrench and shotgun, but must learn to watch his back…

BioShock 2′s Launch Trailer

BioShock 2′s Launch Trailer shows Subject Delta facing a Spider Splicer, recusing a Little Sister, facing a Brute Splicer and the nimble but oh, so deadly Big Sister. Rapture is even more screwed now…

BioShock Infinite’s Beast of America Trailer

This is… I cannot even.. It’s just… Pure awesome…

I’ve been watching this trailer for the past two days; more than the average healthy trailer dosage. I’m pretty sure if this trailer were by any chance a drug, I would have overdosed already. It shows us so much new enemies and the scary part is that we’ve already been showed so much. This is going to rock.

My favorite trailer is the one we used to live in when I was child. Ah, the good times we had scrapping off loose chicken from the bones in other people’s trash.

is Bioshock 2 a worthy sequel in terms of story and gameplay? should i get it

    • AG_Sonday

Simple answer: no. If you played BioShock then  2 will seem repetitive and redundant and like you’re always backtracking places you’ve seen enough of in the first game.

If you enjoyed the 1st one, and haven’t played it in years, then get 2. Revisiting Rapture was quite appealing to me.

THAT Dead Island trailer was pretty good, and so was the GTA San Andreas trailer, pre-release. I keep trailers I really enjoy, and I’ve quite the collection now.
