Activision Revokes Black Ops II Pre-Order Incentive
Rememebr when Activision promised players that if they pre-ordered Call of Duty: Black Ops II they would receive a code for one of the most popular multiplayer maps, Nuketown 2025? Yeah so do I, and it was great to see the code supplied inside the game box, even though it was supposedly for pre-orders. Even weirder than that, Activision has now pulled the map off 24/7 servers entirely, claiming that it was only part of the Double XP weekend that took place this last weekend.
The sudden bad news was tweeted by Treyarch game design director David Vonderhaar:
Double XP weekend is official over. That means Nuketown 2025 / 24-7 is as well. I know. RIGHT? Don’t kill the messenger. +
That’s not to say you can’t still access the map. Although the map has disappeared from 24/7 server, you can still create custom games in Nuketown 2025. However, there’s been no indication as to whether Nuketown 2025 will be intergrated into main playlists or not, making this one hell of a shallow pre-order incentive. Way to go Treyarch and Activision.
