eGamer Awards 2012: The Top 10 Most Anticipated Titles Of 2013

eGamer Awards 2012: The Top 10 Most Anticipated Titles Of 2013

Our attention spans are often short, and our excitement levels often high, and this usually spells drama for the end of the year for us, as we usually can’t help but get hyped for the year ahead despite it not even beginning yet. Here we’ll be looking at the games that have us the most excited for next year.

This award is given to the ten titles that have gained the most interest from us this year, and ultimately are our top 10 most anticipated games for the year 2012, because as gamers we’re always looking ahead to what we can play next. But this is more than just a list, as it also contains information about each and every title, and the reasons as to why we’re looking forward to the game in question. So without further delay, check out our ten most anticipated games for 2013.

*Note: The order is in no way depicting the level of anticipation, but rather arranged in a complex and completely random manner that we do not understand ourselves.

Our 10 Most Anticipated Games Are
Tomb Raider

scavenger-den-27

The new Tomb Raider has made the headlines a great many times since its debut, and there’s a lot of information out there that you can catch up on right here on our site by taking a trip down memory lane. Given the bumpy ride that Tomb Raider has been on for a while now, we’re really hoping that this is the reboot that the series needs, because we don’t believe that the series can take another sending off back to the drawing board. However judging by what we’ve seen and heard so far, and definitely by what we’ve played, the game is looking very promising and like it’s the real deal, and we can’t wait to give it a run when it releases in March. Let’s hope it skyrockets this series back to its pedestal.

DmC: Devil May Cry

What more can we say about DmC: Devil May Cry that our preview hasn’t covered already? Well, honestly not much. But we’re really looking forward to the next entry in the Devil May Cry series, and by that same token we’re also worried about it given Capcom’s recent reputation for butchering their own franchises. We’ve played the demo of the game, we’ve seen some trailers, and we’ve taken note of the gaming community’s diverse and mixed reactions to it, and it’s all adding fuel to the flames for this title, which will be coming in as one of the first big hitters for the new year. Bring it on we say, because there’s nothing like an explosive start to a year. And we’ve got a controversial game here.

The Last Of Us

The Last Of Us is a game on that took the stage by storm when it was announced, and it’s been looked forward to and hyped ever since. It even took first place on our Community Award poll for the most anticipated game of next year. We don’t know an incredible amount about this title right now, but it’s only releasing in May next year so there’s plenty of time to learn more. Most recently we learned that the game will definitely have a multiplayer mode, although we don’t know anything about that yet. We’ve also seen one or two gameplay trailers, as well as got told that the game will emphasise consequences to your actions. Given Naughty Dog’s history with the globally famous Uncharted series, this is already looking like a sure highlight of 2013, and we can’t wait for it to land.

Beyond: Two Souls

Beyond: Two Souls has us tremendously excited because it’s the next game from Quantic Dream and David Cage, the creators of our 2012 Game of the Year, Heavy Rain. It doesn’t quite have a release date yet, and we don’t know all that much about it, but David Cage has gotten us hyped up by saying that we’ll be surprised by what the PS3 can do with Beyond, and also boasting that the game has around 2000 pages of script for its narrative. We got our first intriguing look at the game at E3 earlier this year, and then we got seven more minutes of gameplay later on. With what we know right now, and given how Heavy Rain turned out, we absolutely cannot wait for this game.

Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes

Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes took the world by storm, and still we have no clue what Hideo Kojima is up to given the recent Phantom Pain saga that’s been going on. We hardly know much about this game, save for a few details, such as that it will have a new FOX Engine. We also know that it’s a current-gen multiplatform title, and gameplay footage surfaced for it as well. Passed this, all we can really do is wait to find out more, but considering it’s Hideo Kojima and Metal Gear Solid here, we absolutely are dying to find out more about this title and whatever else that evil genius is planning.

God of War: Ascension

It’s God of War and it’s back again. Some of us weren’t entirely convinced of this game, but what we’ve seen and played so far has been really encouraging. There’s been so much buzz about this game already, and there’s plenty for you to go back and read on if you need some refreshers, but we’re keeping a keen eye on this game especially because its bringing multiplayer to the series for the first time. Of course, we also are wary of it and whether or not it can top the amazing God of War III. But we can’t help but be excited for it, so we’ll definitely be counting down the days until it’s here.

Metro: Last Light

Metro-Last-Light-preview-2-fixed

Metro: Last Light is the sequel to the surprisingly awesome and unique gem, Metro 2033. The latest gameplay trailer has peaked our interest quite a bit, but really there’s plenty of footage to sift through if you want to find out more about this game. One thing that did add to our excitement a little was that the game would be purely single-player and yes we know that may upset some multiplayer junkies out there, but we feel that if all the little niggles are ironed out from Metro 2033, then we really could be looking at a stunning title. Go forth we say, polish it up and focus all your attention on the core experience, 4A Games, because we really can’t wait to see what you’ve done with this game.

Grand Theft Auto V

GTA-V-Lookout-Point

Do we really need to say anything about this title at all? It’s the next Grand Theft Auto, and it’s been invading the headlines since its announcement. The only issue with it right now is that gamers are demanding a PC version, and rightfully so we’d say, and to achieve that a petition was constructed a while back that right now has nearly all the signatures it needs. Rockstar, however, have said that they are currently focused on the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game, and don’t have any details about the PC version right now. Bummer. But either way, Grand Theft Auto V has us extremely excited, and the name more than speaks for itself here as to why. Our anticipation levels increased after watching the latest trailer, and we were definitely interested when the developers said that it’s a current-gen title because now is the best time of all. No time like the present, hey?

Watch Dogs

Watch Dogs blew us away when it was unveiled at E3 earlier this year, and practically everyone was over the moon after watching that first gameplay trailer of it. We barely know anything about the title, other than that it will be an open world action game and that it will release next year according to Ubisoft. There’s also a developer diary out for the game, and talks of Ubisoft already having an eye on a movie based on the game. However, all we care right about now is seeing more gameplay, and this is definitely one of our most anticipated titles for next year. We’re dying to see more of it.

BioShock Infinite

skylinebankfight_ONLINE1

BioShock Infinite is a game that has us just as excited as it does anxious. There is tons to read up on and watch if you haven’t been paying this game due attention, but the latest gameplay trailer has ensured that our anticipation levels have remained in tact. The game will be out in March, so it really could be an early extreme highlight of the year, and we’re really looking forward to it and hoping it turns out great. We are a bit on guard after we learned that the multiplayer, while extraordinary, was cut from the game due to resource and time constraints, and that puts all of the attention on the single-player, which hopefully works out in the game’s favour. Bring on 2013, bring on BioShock Infinite.
