eGamer Mini-Awards 2012: Best Gaming Quotes

Everyone enjoys a good quote. They become their own elements, where a single phrase can elicit a whole range of ideas, thoughts, memories or feelings. And we all know them well, whether it’s “the cake is a lie” or “Fus Ro Dah” or whatever else, we associate them with our games, or any other media for that matter. “My friends… you bow to no one.”

 

I really like quotes and I will sometimes use them in my articles for the sake of comic relief or whatever else. I’ve been criticised for overdoing it at times as well, but really I think if a line of English is good enough, then it should be shared often and loudly. To that extent, we’ve devised this new award to reward those games that contained awesome quotes this year. We’re going to do this award just a little differently, offering just the quote itself instead of any sort of write-up. Here goes:

 

Spec-Ops: The Line — Colonel John Konrad

We didn’t really want to pick an overall winner since the title of the award happens to be “Best Gaming Quotes” with emphasis on quotes and so all of these nominations are basically winners in their own respects, however we’ve decided on an overall winner purely for the sake of special mention. If there is one quote that will go down in the memory and be remembered and associated with its relevant game for years to come, it is our winner.
