The Evolution Of The Legendary Mario Is Here, And They Call It Mari0
You probably have no idea what this is about, so allow me to take a moment to get you completely up to speed with a few lines taken from indie game developer Stabyourself’s official website:
Two genre defining games from completely different eras: Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros. and Valve’s Portal. These two games managed to give Platformers and First-Person Puzzle Games a solid place in the video game world. But what if Nintendo teamed up with Valve and recreated the famous Mario game with Portal gun mechanics?
You read that correctly. Mari0 is a complete, from scratch, recreation of the legendary Super Mario Bros, except everyone’s favourite plumber now has a portal gun, and the game itself has gotten some puzzle game mechanics, as well as a smashing four-player cooperative mode.
If that sounds too good to be true, then I’d advise you to visit Stabyourself.net and download the game for free. Released towards the end of last year, the game is available for PC, Mac and Linux.
It’s seriously an awesome game, and a truckload of fun. I’ve only just started playing it, but I all too soon had the urge to share it, and here we are. I’m sure in someone’s mind, or a great many minds, this was also the dream, and thanks to Stabyourself and their peculiar website name, we have it.
Finally, here’s a screenshot from the game, in before “pics or it didn’t happen”.
