A Change Of Pace With A Dash Of Too Little Time
Time goes by very quickly. This year as feels as though the tempo, with which every day passes, is increased tenfold. It feels like it was the very first day of the year not too long ago. Look at it, the second month of 2013 isn’t even that far from coming to a close.
I don’t know why this year feels so much more hectic than previous years. Every year goes by with added cadence each time. I don’t necessarily like the idea of time passing so quickly. Sure, it is another day closer to BioShock Infinite, which is phenomenal, but I cannot help but feel as though there is still too much that needs to be done in my life, and I know the momentum will only increase as time goes by.
It is a scary prospect, people. Time is one thing we cannot beat. Metal starts to rust, rocks get broken down by the sun and the wind, our bodies starts to lose its energetic and supple nature.
With all this in mind I tend to play as many games as humanly possible. It may not always be practical, due to finances or as mentioned above; the lack of time. We all have stuff and daily activities that need doing. I try to get my hands on as many games as I can, but I sometimes feel as though I’m playing too many serious games. Nothing wrong with that, just that a change of pace is needed every now and then. Lately I’ve been playing a little bit of DmC, and finished it for a second time two days ago. Still highly entertaining; I kept finding myself playing “smaller” games.
No big budget games kept my attention or provided enough escapism when faced with a human battery dangling on the side of being passed out.
Two games that weren’t as serious were Serious Sam 3: BFE (ironically) and Little Inferno. Little Inferno does have a serious message to be had, but it proved to be a ton of fun, while Serious Sam 3 bamboozled me with countless waves of screaming enemies. (The cut-scenes are not very nice at all, but the gameplay provided enough gore and mindless shooting to help.) Each of them are fun in their own way, and highly entertaining, too. I’m not even sure in what genre Little Inferno will find itself.
Those were my two games that helped me escape the ordinary life these last few weeks; in between other games. What games do you like to escape from horrendous management or bothersome folk?
