God Of War: Ascension’s Demo Detailed

God Of War: Ascension’s Demo Detailed

I’m not really one for demos, typically I don’t think they give an adequate cross-section of the experience the game offers in terms of singleplayer titles. Obviously for multiplayer games and games such as FIFA this doesn’t apply but you won’t find me rushing to download the latest demo for Dead Space or God of War: Ascension but curiously I’ve already watched the demo for God of War: Ascension without knowing it at the time.

You see, a few days ago we posted a video of the opening 30 minutes of Ascension and it turns out, as confirmed via a tweet from Sony Santa Monica, that the opening 30 minutes is in fact the demo for the game. I’m not sure whether that’s a good thing but I suppose it’s not a bad idea entirely. In case you missed, here’s the first 30 minutes of the game and by Odin’s beard, it is something to behold. Below is the tweet in question.

GoW: Ascension is due out in late March with the demo first available to those who have taken part in the Rise of the Warrior online game. When and if the demo will go public is another question entirely.

Same here demos are a waste of time i mean how hard is it to wait a month for the game to release that you feel you have to play some of the game or your life is over?

I find myself somewhat agreeing with you, this is an odd feeling

I agree as well actually :P I really hate demos. I’ll never forget how the demos of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune and Killzone 2 made the games look SO bland and average and I was so put off, but when I played the full games I was completely blown away, they were outstanding.

Then the reverse happened with Mirror’s Edge. I thought the demo was epic, and like this was going to be an amazing game. It was far from that when fully released, but I guess it was a good experiment that has a future.

Moral of the story, I don’t trust demos anymore. Either give bad or too high impressions. Not long to wait for the full game anyway.

I do prefer betas, as they’re earlier stages of the game and give you a nice teaser. But unless I’m doing a hands-on preview, I tend to avoid demos.

No i agree and last thing I’m going to do is sit and wait for 1.8gb or whatever to download and occupy space to play for a few hours and then look around and wonder what to bloody do next. I have never bothered with demos as well unless you count the little disks they used to give you with the PS1 that included Abe and that block game where you had to work around it or the man would fall down and the blocks would crush him :P
