New Assassin’s Creed Confirmed
It was always inevitable and with Ubisoft’s annualisation of the Assassin’s Creed franchise we really should have seen this coming. Well I knew it was coming but it’s always something of a surprise when a new AC title is announced so close to the release of the previous one.
The news was confirmed by Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot during an investor presentation. Guillemot stated that the company had plans to release a new Assassin’s Creed within fiscal 2014 which runs from April 2013 up to April 2014. Chances are you can expect the game to drop in the middle of that period around November as per usual. The news was given after Guillemot told investors that AC III had sold 12 million units worldwide.
As with previous titles, the game will be developed across multiple studios throughout Ubisoft’s global network of studios. Hopefully it doesn’t result in a disjointed game such as AC III but then previous games were also a collaboration between various studios.
Of course not much was said about this new Assassin’s Creed but it was confirmed that we will be getting a new character and new setting. I certainly hope they don’t move further forward in time because all the interesting time periods have really been thoroughly explored and as Yahtzee said in his AC III review, the further forward in time you go, the more political and dialogue-heavy things get. I think feudal Japan or medieval China may have some promise. Where would you like to see the next AC game set?
