Introducing Transistor, A New Title From The People Who Created Bastion

Bastion is a gem of an indie title. The only thing that probably could’ve made it better was if Morgan Freeman narrated your entire journey. In fact, they came really close to that in the end. So it’s rather exciting to hear that the people behind Bastion are hard at work on a brand new project, named Transistor.

Labelled as a new sci-fi action RPG, the team behind Bastion will gives players control of “an extraordinary weapon of unknown origin as they explore a stunning futuristic city”. Gameplay is said to “seamlessly integrate thoughtful strategic planning into a fast-paced action experience.”

Here’s a short description of Transistor from the developers themselves.

“Players assume the role of a young woman who gains control of a powerful weapon after a mysterious group of assailants nearly kills her with it. Now she must fight from street to street against forces that will stop at nothing to recover the weapon. During the course of the adventure, players will piece together the Transistor’s mysteries as they pursue its former owners.”

The title is slated for a 2014 release, but gamers in the USA will be able to sample it at PAX East at developer Supergiant’s booth. Supergiant has also promised to release a FAQ on Transistor later this week.

Zia’s Theme is still one of the most hauntingly beautiful songs the gaming industry has seen.

So much excite! I was hoping Supergiant wouldn’t go with another isometric game but I’m not disappointed by this trailer. As long as they keep it different enough to Bastion, be it in story or gameplay mechanics, I’ll be happy.

Actually, that’s a lie. I’d be happy if this was a carbon copy of Bastion with nothing changed. Doesn’t look that way though. :D
