VUDU, a popular HD movie Streaming service, is coming to the PlayStation 3 next week.

VUDU is pay-as-you-go HD streaming service, and it is one of the few services to offer full 1080p HD films with Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound. It contains over 4,000 HD movies and it’s Cloud based, so users do not have to download or wait for lengthy buffering times.

Users can rent or buy the movies they wish to watch, where the availability of the movies will sync with the Blu-Ray release date.

PlayStation 3 users will be able to download the movie streaming service through the PlayStation Stone, after which they can access the service on their XMB. If the user has a PlayStation Move, they can use it as a pointer.

VGChartz estimates that around 1.3 million Kinect sensors have been sold to consumers worldwide, representing around $250million in worldwide revenue. Breaking this down by region: 950,000 Kinect sensors have been sold in America; 130,000 units in the UK, and around 200,000 across the rest of Europe.

The Move has sold over 1.2 million units worldwide, where around 40% of these units were sold in America and 55% in Europe. VGChartz, however, estimates that PS Move sales should easily increase to 2.5 million units by the end of the year.

No year-end estimates have been given for the Kinect, just yet, but judging on the time of release between the two products, Kinect might still come out on top.

Ubisoft announced that PlayStation 2 titles of Price of Persia will be make their way to the PlayStation Network in High Definition. This means, the trilogy, “Sands of Time”, “Warrior Within” and “Two Thrones” are to be remastered in HD for purchase on the Playstation Network.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of time will be available for $14.99 (R105.68), where the other installments will arrive during December sometime.

Just for interest sake, if you are unaware, The God of War Collection has been released to buy and download on PSN as well. You can buy the collection for R299.00 (PlayStation Plus – R239.20) and it requires a minimum of 18.3GB of HDD space.

This Easter egg is a fun and visually good looking Arcade game called “Dead Ops Arcade”. For those of you who have a slow noob-like Internet and want to play this mini game like within the next 2 and half minutes, let me explain to you what to do. For the rest of you, skip to the end and load the video.

1. On the main menu screen, use the right analogue stick to look down with “Mason” until you see his hands which are all tied up
2. Repeatedly tap the L2 and R2 keys for PS3 — or RT & LT for Xbox — and you will see Mason struggle and wiggle to loosen the straps and break free
3. Once you are free, walk to the back of the little hostage room where you will see a tiny little PC, much like mine. Press the corresponding button (“X” for Xbox and “Square” for PS3) on the little PC to activate the terminal prompt
4. Once the prompt pops up,  type in, “doa” and press the enter key
5. An awesome, cool addictive “Dead Ops Arcade” game will start loading up
6. After a little loading time you can start killing some zombies. It’s super addictive and fun, with super-ups and all

Other commands you can enter in the prompt include:

• “zork” – a little text game
• “who” – to see a list of users authorized to use the system
• “login” – to login with a different user
• “help” – to show commands

Once you’ve unlocked Dead Ops Arcade you can access it by going to the main menu screen > Zombies > Solo > Dead Ops Arcade

There are more secrets to discover, but that’s up to you. I’m sticking with the little zombie game.

Just remember, there are a few spoilers so I suggest that you complete the campaign before trying this.

Halo: Reach, which is going to be released on September 14, has passed the 2 million mark on pre-orders.

Americas (USA, Canada, Latin America) has now surpassed 1.6 million units pre-orderd. as well as 500,000 units from outside of america with nearly half of that coming from the United Kingdom.

VGChartz expects Halo: Reach to perform very similarly to the Xbox 360 version of Modern Warfare 2, maybe even overtaking Modern Warfare 2. As you can see in the chart below:

Halo started slowly and then picked up dramatically to overtake Modern Warfare 2 (Xbox 360). With under a week remaining until the game launches, lets observe if Halo manages to beat the record-breaking Modern Warfare 2 in pre-orders before launch.

By the stats – Biggest console “week one” sales of all time – Modern warfare 2 has sold 4,942,101 copies in the first week. By the amount of current pre-orders plus estimate sales in the first week (3 million) coming from Halo: Reach, Halo will be sitting on 4,250,000 (estimate) – coming second on the chart – above GTA: San Andreas and Halo 3.

A hacker, 20-year-old George Hotz has claimed to have finally cracked the ps3.

The PS3 was the only game console that hadn’t been hacked, despite being on the market for more than three years. Hotz said it was a process which took five weeks to crack.

The Hotz hack will allow PS2 titles, pirated games, and also unrestricted versions of Linux to work on the console.

“I’m not going to personally have anything to do with that,” Hotz said. “To tell you the truth, I’ve never really played a PS3. I have one game, but I’ve never really played it.” – Sure Buddy…

Geohot said he doesn’t plan to release the software used to unlock the box until he can make it more reliable. It currently takes about 15 minutes to run and frequently fails to work properly.

Hotz said: “Personally, it’s a win for me just to do it . It’s just cool to have it cracked.”

Over the past years 3D content has started being used more and more in the movie market.

It’s all fun to watch these 3D movies on cinema but, what if you want to watch it at home in your bed with a warm cup of hot chocolate and Marshmallows, or you what if you want to play some racing game where it feels as if you are really sitting in the car?

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment (SPHE) announced its first 3D-compatible Bravia LCD TV, to arrive this year, 2010.
It promises a high frame rate and a 1920×1080 pixel resolution to provide “high-definition, high-quality 3D images.”

3D Content on Blue Ray will also be released soon after, and this will work with the 3D-compatible BRAVIA LCD TV. Furthermore this TV will work with the BluRay player on your PS3.

The first 3D compatible Blue Ray DVD which will be released is “Cloudy with a chance of meatballs” with others to follow.

Tired of oversteer in NFS shift? Tired of spinning out in drifts, corners and even slight bends? Well, here is a solution for PS3 & Xbox users!

Go to Options > Gameplay > Adjust Control, and adjust the values to the following:

Steering Dead Zone – 15%
Accelerator Dead Zone – 10%
Brake Dead Zone – 10%
Steering Sensitivity – 5%
Acceleration Sensitivity – 5%
Brake Sensitivity – 5%
Speed Steering Sensitivity 100%

After that, go to Car Garage > Tuning. Enter Quick Tuning options and proceed to Balance. Move the slider all the way toward Oversteer, as doing so will actually counter the current oversteer with understeer.

Analyst Michael Pachter, from Wedbush Morgan Securities, wrote to investors saying that: Activsion will be making a lot of $$$ this holiday, as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will go live.

“We expect global sales to exceed $500 million in the first week following launch, and think that the company can easily sell 10 million units in Q4″

Worldwide Retailer GameStop, has predicted that Call of Duty: Modern warfare 2 will be one of the highest selling titles of all time.

Tony Bartel, Marketing Vice President of GameStop said: “We believe Modern Warfare 2 has a chance to be the largest title of all-time, and obviously we’re basing that on the reservation activity that we are seeing in our stores”

The last question is, just how many millions of copies will be sold?

GTA :IV’s  Previous world record holder “Jim”;  held the record for the longest time  playing GTA:IV during a single session.  And now, the record which was 28 hours and 1 minute, has been Broken!

Chirantan Patnaik of Mumbai, India, is now officially the new world record holder of the longest time playing GTA:IV in a single session (If you thought 28 hours was long….) He has played the game for a Shattering 40 hours and 20 minutes straight.

Patnaik started playing at 10 am on September 4th, and ended at around 2 am on September 6th. Patnaik  only used 4 breaks of which he was allowed every hour.

Patnaik prepared for the session by running and practicing yoga. Patnaik says he wants to further better his record by playing 48 hours straight.

COO, Rohit Sharma of  Zappack, India’s largest gaming portal, said this about Patnaik:

“We have always believed in the potential of Indian gamers. Chirantan’s success is a proud moment for the Indian gaming industry. This will encourage more youngsters to take gaming seriously.”

FPS such as Gears of War and Call of duty may just be Supported by Natal.

Vice president “Mark Rein” of Epic games was interviewed by the Xbox official magazine.

He stated that:

“I have no idea what we’re going to do from a game standpoint, but from an engine standpoint, it’s definitely cool stuff and we will support it. I think any future Xbox games we make will have some Natal support. We always want to have something that exploits the unique capabilities of a platform.”

When Rien was asked If he thinks Natal has applications such as gears of war he said, “Yes, I want to do a hand signal that tells my friend, “Go over there.” Instead of even saying it on Live, I just want to motion, “Go over there.” Or if I want to throw a grenade, I just lift my right hand off the controller, throw the grenade, then put my hand back on the controller.”

In another interview, Rien says that the Unreal game engine will be the economic engine of Natal.

“We are the unofficial engine of Natal, or maybe the official, I don’t know. In other words, we consider ourselves the ‘economic engine of Natal.”

Rein also may have unconsciously revealed Microsoft’s plans to bundle Natal with the new Xbox360, when it is expected to launch some time next year.

“I think they said they were going to ship Natal with every Xbox when they actually launch the thing, so everybody will have one,”

Microsoft’s new motion camera “Project natal” is a revolutionary new way to play, with no controller. Project Natal allows users to interact with the Xbox 360 without the use of a control. By eliminating the control, the user will have a natural interface using gestures, spoken commands, images and/or objects.

Some game demo’s were shown using “Project Natal”, where one of them was called Paint Party. This game was about a player that can make throwing motions to splash or draw with paint onto a wall. The player was capable of choosing colors using speech recognition, while still having the ability to pose to create stencils.

This means that the Project Natal’s price will start off high, and then decrease over time, just like console hardware. *SURPRISE*

The launch price will be the deciding factor on how well this piece of technology sells.

So, for all you Xbox fans out there… Time to start saving.
