K well I have decided to create a monthly installment that states some new exciting games that are coming out each month. Take note the dates are international dates and might not be the same as the South African release date. Hope you enjoy!

Quake live will be a predecessor to Quake 3: Arena following the multiplayer aspect unlike Quake 4 which was story based. The really cool thing about Quake live is that it will be browser based and free so you can log on to the net and play the game for free! This game has been made to be a major league first-person shooter esports competition game and seems to improve a lot from Quake 3 in this way.

There have been a few games that have tried this web browser approach but I think Quake live will be the first game to actually create a game that has the same aspects as a game that you install but on your web browser. This approach might not work so well with South Africans due to our internet connections but hopefully our internet infrastructure will catch up soon.

Quake live is currently in the final stages of beta testing but it seems that there will be around 30 different maps and that most of them will be based on Quake 3 maps but there will also be some new ones. When the game comes out it should be able to run on windows, macintosh and linux. Which is really kind of id software.

The game modes include:

Capture the flag

Clan arena

I really enjoy playing Quake 3: Arena so I can’t wait for this:)

KS.int vs MYM

Lets just say this was a fairly one sided match.

KS.int are a fairly new addition to the DotA-League Masters and they basically dominated the event. I love watching these guys play and I rate they are the best clan at the moment. Their strats are amazing and they far excelled all the teams in the event.

MYM were runner-ups and Sk-Gaming came third.

Watchout for kingsurf.international in more events.

The World Cyber Games have confirmed what the first five games to be played at the event will be.

However, as surprising as it might seem, DotA(Defense of the ancients) will not be making an appearance at all in WCG. This is extremly dissapointing for all us DotA players. It’s weird that Guitar hero is choice game for WCG; since Guitar Hero is made mainly for fun, not competition and DotA is purely competitive. Maybe it’s because DotA is not a stand alone game, I don’t know. This is just a real shock to me!

Most of you that play DotA will probably know about League of Legends which is created by some of the creators of DotA and is due to come out this year. They do not state exactly what genre this game would fall under but it seems to be a kind of mix between mmorpg and rts. Which could turn out really nice. It also looks like it will have an open source element to it allowing users to create and give ideas for new sorceres and so on. This game looks very different from anything else I’ve seen and hopefully I will be able to play it soon:)  PC specifications are still to be confirmed.
